Tashkent: Uzbekistan and Egypt are in discussions to create a logistics hub in Egypt designed to streamline the export of Uzbek goods to African markets.
This development follows a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Jasurbek Choriev, and Tamer Fathy Abdussalam Hammad, the Ambassador of Egypt to Uzbekistan.
During the talks, the two officials explored the potential for direct air connectivity, with Egyptian airlines potentially launching regular flights to Uzbekistan. They also examined prospects for cooperation in pilot training through the Egyptian Aviation Academy.
This latest discussion builds on diplomatic momentum between the two countries. Earlier in 2025, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov, engaged in a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty. The two diplomats emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in political and economic sectors, and highlighted the need to enhance cooperation between their respective national institutions.
The proposed logistics hub is viewed as a strategic initiative that could significantly enhance trade links between Uzbekistan and the broader African market, positioning Egypt as a gateway for Uzbek exports in the region.
